the girl eats a lot of cheese

The little green owl lied to me.

Turns out my 60 day mini Duolingo streak didn't exactly revive my command of the French language during my last hurrah trip to Paris this week.

The last time I really spoke (passably bad) French was during my semester abroad in Luxembourg.

Sounds fun, but my host family padlocked the fridge and relegated me to the sketchy bathroom in their dank basement. Let's just say I don't have the fondest memories.

This trip my friend and I vowed to use our French as much as possible.

But really, how often am I going to use the phrase "the girl eats a lot of cheese?"

My friend was vegan. I could've used a few more relevant expressions in my back pocket.

Same thing goes when you're looking to build relationships.

Knowing exactly what to say (and how to say it) could make all the difference when you're trying to get someone to say yes.

My friend Selena Soo has spent years mastering the art of relationship-building and to celebrate the launch of her new book, Rich Relationships,* she's giving away her best scripts.

Download these essential done-for you scripts* and use them in text, emails and conversations to smartly:

  1. Introduce yourself and explain what you do.
  2. Contact a busy, influential person and get a response.
  3. Invite someone to work with you and inspire them to say, “Yes!”
  4. Politely say “no” to a request while keeping the relationship intact.
  5. Cancel or back out of a commitment gracefully.
  6. Request a testimonial or endorsement.
  7. Invite someone to be an affiliate partner and promote your work to their audience.
  8. ....and over a dozen more to help you build relationships

Selena shows you what to say, how to say it, and explains the psychology behind the wording so you understand why each script works.

Click here to download her genius 20 scripts and learn how to reach out, connect, and be remembered (in under an hour per week).

you've got this,
Michelle

If you're new here—or if you’re like me and can’t remember what you did last week—read the previous email in this series: does Google know who you are?Curious how to get your own Google Knowledge panel (the overview that shows up when someone Googles your name?) Step 1. Use a tool like https://kalicube.pro/tools/knowledge-graph-explorer to search for your name. You should see a list of results like this image below. Click the "see on Google" link to see if it matches your info. (In my case,...

Reviewing a new site design with one of my favorite clients this week, she asked me a question. Why don't I show up the same way in Google as other dudes in her field? And by "that way" she meant the following format when she Googles her name. (I'm showing my client Laura Belgray's panel as an example above - go ahead, google her name and see what shows up!) This block of info at the top of the search results is called a Google Knowledge Panel. The display is generated based on info stored and...

One of my best friends like to surprise me in the best ways.We got in late Monday night from a quick trip to NYC to celebrate my nephew's 21st (and to hang with really cool clients over the best, longest brunch ever - thanks VV)! I went to water my plants and saw that Monty, my mini monstera, was missing from his perch on the kitchen windowsill. Now Monty's needed some TLC for a minute - he'd outgrown his pot but I haven't had the energy (or frankly the knowhow) to properly rehome him. I knew...
