are you recording this?

"Are you still happy with your couches? Could you talk to mumsie please?"
My text messages are rarely rife with scintillating conversations.

My college roommate Justin is the unwilling accomplice of his mother's never-ending couch saga (poor dude is on year 5 of her epic search).

Now my current set up isn't fancy - it's a perfectly serviceable (read: washable) set from West Elm. We have too many visiting dog friends to indulge in a chi chi fancy couch (hello there dream seats from Roche Bobois).

So what else to do but to send a full on review video complete with my husband lying on the couch for scale.

Video reviews are kind of my love language - they're a big part of my consulting sessions and ongoing support services.

I find it's way easier to explain what's working (and what's not) with a quick recording.

Need to explain something to someone (like showing a family member how to set-up a zoom call for the 30th time?)

My favorite tools (as of right now) to record (and send) videos:

Loom - The OG of browser-based screen recordings (though they just got acquired, so we'll see how that goes). Simply install the extension in your browser and enjoy 1-click recording. I've even had clients record entire courses using Loom.

Screenflow - I use this for longer-form video recording and editing (if you've ever seen one of my tech tutorials for B-School, I recorded everything in Screenflow. FYI: Mac only.)

Screen Studio - scrappy new service that creates dynamic screen recordings with features like auto-zoom and blurred backgrounds.
Bonjoro - great for sending personal videos through email - awesome for welcoming new students to programs or responding to applicants.

you've got this,Michelle

p.s. got a favorite tool you use to record? Hit reply and let me know! I always love learning about new tools - and I'll share in future emails.

p.p.s. the replay for my "What's in my Kit" workshop is still up for a bit longer - take a gander and capture new ideas on new ways to start using email to support your work.Tha

nks SO much for sending this replay. This is perfect timing because I'm creating my very first lead magnet (yay!) and revamping my landing page for 2026. You got my brain zig zagging on how I can do more with Kit. It really is one of the best platforms out there and I'm so grateful I followed your advice and chose it. You're so generous with your words, advice, and insights. Marie was right nicknaming you "Smartello." - M (California)

I'm usually slow to try something out, but when I get it, I get it. This simple tool might have just changed my life. I've been hearing about WisprFlow* from friends for a couple of months but I'm one of those people that puts things on my to-do list to look at later.Later turned out to be today. On average it takes me about one to two hours to write my regular newsletter. Write it, edit it, cut out what I don't need, format and test it. Have an existential crisis if my writing is any good and...

Need help going to sleep?Check out the email marketing subreddit. It's dry as toast and often yawn inducing, but reading forums and trade newsletters is how I stay on top of the latest tech issues.Like what's causing your emails to end up in spam. You can have all the things set up correctly (DKIM, SPF, DMARC etc.***) and still have your emails stuck in the void.If you're like me and want to avoid your artisanal copy from ending up in inbox purgatory (or want to help your clients avoid it)...

I opened the envelope and muttered "he knows I've been putting this off."It was a letter from the lawyer who created our family trust and medical directives. It's so simple - a quick note asking if anything has changed in our lives and if we'd like him to review our files for a low fee. And of course we need to update beneficiaries (not exactly the most fun of tasks, so it's been on my to-do list for months two years). It's probably one of the smartest things he does for his business -...
