I'll draw your pet for money

Might be my new favorite sign tacked up on telephone poles around my neighborhood.

I'll draw your pet. For money.

Clear, to the point and even has a QR code for easy scanning.

More people could use that kind of simplicity when sharing their offers.

Recently I tried to register for a local retreat and while the instagram carousel looked delightful, there was nary a link to click nor a trigger word to use to get more info. I'm someone who appreciates a ManyChat* automation to share info quick with social followers.

Don't show me an early bird is open graphic and then make me work to find the contact info.

I had to email to get any concrete info like time and price (frustration #1).

The email I got back a few days later required me to Zelle cash to an unknown account. (Frustration #2 - I really dislike paying unknown people via Zelle since there's no way to protect yourself.)

Then they had me fill out a google form - and I could tell no one had tested the form because two input fields threw errors (frustration #3).

Two weeks later I still haven't gotten a confirmation email (frustration #4).

Honestly, if I didn't know some of the teachers personally, I would think I had gotten fleeced.

Don't make it harder than it needs to be to give you money.

There are so many ways to take money and register that it doesn't need to feel arduous.

And for the love of Pete, test your systems and send an email receipt so people don't think you're a charlatan.

Need a smart, simple tool?

  • a yoga friend recently hosted a gong bath class and took registration and payment with tally.so (easy and free to boot)
  • Use calendly to book and pay for appointments (like consulting sessions)

you've got this,
Michelle

p.p.s. I know a lot of you joined my list after reading my massive blog post on how to record and sell guided meditations (note: I've updated my favorite microphones for 2026!) So I wanted to share my friend Hari's donation-based live workshop in May on how to lead guided meditations. Get the skills to go beyond basic relaxation cues.

One of my friends gave me an odd request while we were waiting for the knife sharpener guy at the the farmer's market (middle-aged joy=sharp knives).Could I curate her instagram feed for her? She's opted out of scrolling for the past few years citing *waves arms everywhere.* But she's missed connecting with people and wants a clean slate. This means she's back on my pebble list - now I can send her my special blend of elderly dog videos, time-lapse crocheted frogs and always on-point muppet...
