the most woo thing I've ever done

My husband Zane and I don't buy gifts for each other.

After almost 20 years of marriage, we don't need more tchotchkes cluttering up the house.

Instead we try to find unique experiences we can share.

So when I asked my husband what he wanted to do for his birthday last month, he said let's do a past-life regression session.

Now I'm pretty much a fly on the woo-adjacent wall (thank you Laura Belgray for that term) and I'm game to try pretty much anything at least once.

Somehow in his infinite searching, he finds the most experienced, heavily degreed experts (who also always have the absolute worst websites - if only I had more time!)

And as a trained theoretical physicist who actually knows what the word "quantum" means, he doesn't deal with any fly-by-night social media word salad grifters.

There's something to be said to working with people who have depth of knowledge - and practical experience guiding thousands of students. It's why whenever I take on new program or class I make sure it's taught by someone who's got brain heft and decades of experience informing their work.

The past few months I've been fortunate to work behind the digital scenes with Dr. Sara Szal and I've been blown away by the critical thinking and deep care she brings to conversations around women's heath. And if you've been a reader for a while, you know that I've collaborated closely with renowned teacher Elena Brower for over a decade.

Together, they're bringing forth a new space called WOMEN: THE PORTAL .

Expect in-depth conversations and informed guidance you won't get anywhere else. (Plus I'm designing the back-end systems and providing tech mentorship inside the program.)

Register here to join our free open session Thursday, May 21st for a peek inside the program structure for the coming year.

you've got this,
Michelle

p.s. A big deal is dropping next week — and if you've been sitting on that course, membership, or digital product idea, this is your sign to get it done this summer. If you're ready to finally get your program out there, click here to be first in line.

p.p.s. for the curious - my past life session revealed that I was a healer and potion maker in Tudor era England - and I ended up being poisoned by a cardinal. Turns out I was snarky in that life too.

My list of personal pet peeves is long.Dishes left overnight in the sink.Dust bunnies in yoga studio corners.Hour long meetings that could've been an email.People adding me to their random personal Substacks (shudder). But few things rile me up as much as a messy inbox. So when I saw my friend launch expert Brenna McGowan post her biggest email pet peeve (small font size), I knew I had to share mine.I sign up for a LOT of newsletters in the name of industry research. For a hot minute last week I considered shutting everything down. I ever-so-briefly dreamed about quitting tech and opening a trampoline dance studio called tramp stamp. I can already feel all the studio owners on my list shaking their head at me at that really bad idea. What got me in a tizzy?Dealing with a technical grouch who didn't want to give control of a website back to a friend. This comes up more than you'd think. Are you the owner on your accounts? In the nebulous world of email marketing, there's surprisingly few important things to track. There's open rates. Click-Through Rates (CTR). Bounce rates. Revenue per email (RPE). And my personal favorite metric, Open to Write Back Rate (OWBR) - thank you Ann Handley for that one. But my new metric has an n-of-1. Getting Laura Belgray to open my emails right away. And as I learned talking with her this week, what gets her to open emails will likely get your readers to open yours too. Watch...
